IGNITING MINDS  -HARA HAI TOH BHARA HAI  Green Challenge is spreading like a wildfire!

In just 80 hours, 1124 people across 23 states have accepted the challenge and 2421 saplings have been planted. The challenge is going Viral. Join and be a part of it !!!

Ms. Priyanka Verghese, IFS, OSD to CM and Project Director for Haritha Haram, Government of Telangana accepted Igniting Minds Hara hai Toh Bhara Hai Challenge and planted 3 saplings in her locality. In turn, she threw the Hara hai Toh Bhara Hai challenge at:

1. Smt Kavitha Kalvakuntla, MP
2. Smt. Smita Sabharwal, IAS, Secretary to CM, Telangana
3. Sri M.V. Reddy, IAS, Collector, Medchal District.

All of them accepted the challenge. Mr M.V. Reddy planted 3 saplings At the Collector office in Medchal Malkajgiri and passed on the challenge to

1. Shri. Malla Reddy - Member of Parliament Malkajgiri
2. Shri. Sajjanar IPS Commissioner of Police - Cyberabad
3. Shri. Mahesh Bhagwat IPS - Commissioner of Police Rachakonda

All of them accepted the challenge. Shri. Mahesh Bhagawat IPS - Commissioner of Police Rachakonda planted 3 saplings At the Hayathnagar Police Station and Passed the challenge to

 Igniting Minds under the auspices of the Haritha Haram project of Govt. of Telangana is organising Hara hai, Toh Bhara hai Challenge!

The iconic leader, former president of India, the missile man, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam's death anniversary falls on 27^thJuly. As a fitting tribute to that great soul, who strived for the humanity in general and the people of our nation in particular, we at Igniting minds have decided to restore and revive the green cover by planting trees all across the nation. To make it interesting and a social activity, we have come up with the concept of GREEN CHALLENGE We have coined a Slogan,Hara hai toh bhara hai to take it forward and make it viral. The State Government of Telangana has come forward to encourage and support this cause as a part of its Haritha Haram Project.

Some very shocking facts have been noticed and the planet is sending us warning signals. Are we listening?

The forest cover is fast depleting. 10,000 years back 45% of the earth (60,000 lakh hectares) was covered with trees. Today, it has come down to just 31% (40,000 lakh hectares). We are cutting 200 sq. km of forest every day. In the last 10 years alone, we have been losing 5.2 million hectares of forests per year!

 Why do we need to plant trees?

 A study has revealed that a person on an average consumes 284.7 kgs of Oxygen per year. On an average, a tree produces 100 kgs. of Oxygen per year. It means that on an average a person consumes Oxygen produced by three trees in a year.

Hara hai Toh Bhara Hai is a fun way of reversing the damage caused by deforestation.

What is the challenge?

1. Plant 3 trees in your locality within 10 days. Nurture them for 3 years. Take a selfie and post it.

2. Pass This challenge to 3 of your acquaintances to do the same. And the chain continues.

3. The trees so planted are geo tagged (http://ignitingminds.in/igm-login.php) and will be kept under watch for the next 3 years.

4. On completion of 3 years of nurturing, the participants will be awarded the badge of Honour Vanamaali.

5. The best participant of the region will be awarded the Vana Samrat badge of the region.
