KFC the leading brand in the food industry and I don’t think there are many of us who are not acquainted with this name. KFC is well known for its excellent and widespread services. KFC is spread in almost 118 countries with more than 18,875 outlets.The first KFC store was opened in the United States of America in the year 1952. The first KFC outlet in India was opened in the year 1995 in Bengaluru and it has almost 295+ outlets in the country by now.
Well, the bigger the name the more is the struggle put forward in bringing it up.Harland Sanders had seen tough times in his life before he came to this place of dignity. He lost his father at a tender age of six and the responsibilities of his family, his younger brother and sister were upon his shoulders. Beginning at the age of 10, he held numerous jobs such as farmer, streetcar conductor, railroad fireman, insurance salesman and more.
Harland Sanders was running a service station in Kentucky, where he would feed hungry travellers which eventually he turned into a restaurant and sold a fried chicken, which became so popular that he was named the colonel of Kentucky in the year 1935.
He closed down his restaurant service in the year 1952 and devoted himself to his chicken business by travelling across the country and popularizing his chicken and in the year 1964 with more than 600 franchised outlets he sold interests to a group of investors for $2 million. KFC went public in the year 1966 and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in the year 1969.
Heublein Inc. acquired KFC CORPORATION in the year 1971 for a whopping $285. KFC became a subsidiary of Reynolds industries in 1982.KFC again saw a change of franchise in 1986 when Pepsico bought KFC from Reynolds Inc. for another huge price of $840 million.
KFC in his last days used to visit his outlets around the globe as a spokesperson and died of Leukemia on December 16, 1980, at the age of 90 in Louisville, Kentucky.His entrepreneurship ideas still continue to inspire many and he remains the boss of an unmatchable brand in the food industry.
He continues to live along with the KFC logo.
