Self-Esteem

The saying goes – “What we think of ourselves that determines our fate”.

It is simple to understand that Self-Esteem is nothing but what we think of ourselves. Our thoughts influence our performance at work, with relations and at our accomplishments in our life.

People with high self-esteem lead a happy and fruitful life. All psychological experts confirmed that everybody should be motivated internally in order to succeed in their life.

Self-Esteem is our Self-Thought

Self-Esteem can be easily understood with an example.

Once a farmer planted pumpkins on his land. Just to observe he picked a small pumpkin which is hanging by the vine and placed it in a small glass jar and started observing. The farmer’s observation over a period of time confirmed that the pumpkin which was on the vine was very big whereas the pumpkin in the jar was shaped according to the size and shape of the jar.By this, we can clearly understand that if our thoughts are limited our growth is also limited.

Conduct of a person with High Self-Esteem

There is a strong relationship between our thoughts and our actions. Having high self-esteem is a powerful evidence of one’s self-respect and respect towards others, society and also the country.

These are the few compliments that a person with high self-esteem receives.

• People with high self-esteem can build strong confidence.

• Accepts both compliments and criticism equally and tactfully.

• Maintains good relations with family and friends.

• Open to new opportunities and ready to face challenges.

• A high self-esteem person is self-motivated and a very enthusiastic.

Conduct of a person with Low Self-Esteem

A person with low self-esteem behaves differently. They are pessimists. They think differently and they do differently.

• These low self-esteem persons are generally sensitive.

• They possess somewhat critical nature.

• They are self-centered.

• Their ego objects for them to be free and open-minded to others.

• They are fault finders but not fault acceptors.

• They possess fatalistic attitude.

No child is by birth is expected to be with low self-esteem or high self-esteem. The behavior of a child is totally impressed by their parents, friends, and teachers. The psychological experts' report says that on an average every parent has to spend a minimum of time with their children to motivate them to be on the right path. Children are left to glean whatever they receive from their parents.

In this busy day to day life, it is a tough task for the parents to educate their children and to motivate them. But it is the parents who are responsible for their children’s behavior.
