Teachers Employ Skill Training To Create Skilled Workforce
On 25 August 2017, I used to be in the workplace to perform Puja as well as to see some imperative workplace matters. On that day a small instance made me think how children are crazy about entertainment.
On that auspicious day, I invited my both sons Pawan and Sai Krishna Reddy to accompany me to the office to take part in festival celebrations. My younger son Pawan followed me, whereas my elder son Sai Krishna Reddy spread his way to school for Vinayaka Chaturthi festival. That made me think, that the students are after entertainment and if an adequate dose of creative entertainment is there, students will find education interesting and become self-motivated to chart out their career or make opportunities by themselves.
Quite interesting, isn’t it? Let us delve deeper.
“Skill Training Can Create a New India”- Envisioned by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi
Yes, students are entertainment oriented. In today’s educational system we find several stress factors involved in student learning system. This is because to face the competitive spirit among the students. The slow learners and weaker students (in few cases) tend to commit suicide or parents become apathetic towards their children once they find their wards are not performing up to their expectations.
Is scoring fewer marks end of the road? Who is responsible for the fewer marks?
We need to think about it. I want to narrate an example. One religious leader was giving a sermon. This leader has many qualifications and he is giving a wonderful philosophy to his audience. But after ten minutes, he found more than half of the audience looking indifferent or few sleeping. He got angry on the audience and expressed his disregard towards them. At that point, one listened mustered up his courage and told, “Your discourse is too boring”. There was laughter at that time from the sizeable chunk of the crowd who agreed with the person who told the truth.
Teaching is marketing
The lesson here is there must be an emphasis on marketing, background research, and innovative presentation to the students to kindle their imagination.
Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, had the habit of igniting minds of students and youth whenever he had an opportunity to interact with students. As I had a close association with Dr.Kalam, I was inspired by his speeches and expectations. So this magazine is the reflection of Dr.Kalam’s dream.
This magazine “Igniting Minds” is the network link between the youths, education, industries, and government to create millions of opportunities by constant ideating and implementing the right ideas with the help of aspiring investors or facilitators.
Learn Skill Training
Presently my concentration is on skilling. Education and Skilling both play an important role in students’ career. To acquire behavioral knowledge, education is necessary, whereas Skilling is a themed educational system, where the students get trained with competency-based education to become a productive potential in the society.
Students are not born visionaries, they are to be molded with a convincing reason to develop and improve their skills. Let me tell you clearly, students are entertainment oriented.Whereas teachers play a key role, provided with right kind of entertainment expertise skills and train the students where they themselves become proactive in learning.
I know some are already experts in imparting learning but look at the poor employability of our university degree holders. What went wrong? And How can we set things right? Students can firmly construct their character career through education. Other than character building, we need the education to be wealthy. We live in the knowledge society and the demand is for micro skills. Identifying student’s micro skills and make them to specialize in their field help them to create confidence and motivate them towards their job opportunities. I am an avid admirer of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan; it is my corporate responsibility to exhort the teaching community to use Skill training as a strategy to mold students for industry requirements. I take an oath on Teachers Day to provide my students with an innovative step.
I request all the mentors of IT, Engineering, Medical, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Finance, Banking and others to show their students a relevant website and give a short corporate presentation of the company. Introduce the skills requirement found on the career page and discuss different job responsibilities, micro, and macro skill requirements. Derive insights from students, motivate them, and give them case studies. Make them sure to concentrate on those skills which are very much required at the time of their placement. This can trigger interest in them in a normal situation. Give a picture of the salary they earn and the fabulous lifestyle they lead. Make the class lively with lots of fun.
Do Research on Skilling Requirements
Teachers by using their techniques identify student’s skill requirements and focus their energies and train the students according to the requirements of their concerned sectors. Mentors have to show their students, the relevant Voiceover Videos if necessary and urge them to pitch in a similar way. In my research, I came to know that this innovative method of learning is highly imaginative and suitable to a corporate environment. This concept is called Skilltrainment which I want to share with my students on this occasion. If you follow, you are the beneficiary of the rich rewards.
The Bottom line
The most important technique that both the teachers and parents have to remember is that students are to be taught about the greatest personalities and their efforts towards their success. Explain to students how great leaders emerged out of repeated failures. For example, Thomas Alva Edison failed thousand times to succeed in his attempts. This kind of stories can remove the inferiority complex of students. Dr. Kalam has clearly mentioned about the failure analysis, not success analysis. I request all the teachers to join their hands and train the students by providing them with interesting case studies. Then industrialists like us will be benefited immensely. Dr. Radhakrishnan said, “Life of joy and happiness is possible only on the basis of knowledge and science.” I want to add wealth also with knowledge and science. But the responsibility is upon the teachers to impart knowledge in constantly changing scenarios with skill training. Igniting Minds is a platform for discussion.
