U.S Independence Day known as the fourth of July commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 1776 by the Continental Congress. The document proclaimed the independence of the 13 American Colonies from British Rule and established a new nation the United States of America.

Katherine B. Hadda, now the Consul General in Hyderabad took over the post on October 18, 2016. Ms. Hadda has almost 30 years of experience in policy positions expanding to Asia, Washington, Dc and Europe and is an active career member of the Senior Foreign Service. She has also recently served as Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Rome, encouraging entrepreneurship, promoting investment and promoting bilateral along with improved cybersecurity.

U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nikki Haley too visited New Delhi from June 26-28 to discuss strengthening of US-India cooperation ties on international issues in a meeting with the members of Indian government and civil society. Ambassador Haley also had a brief meeting with Honorable PM Narendra Modi at his residence, later attending a meeting and working dinner hosted by External Affairs department.
