The topics for the classical debate shall be given one day in advance, whereas the topics for the Turncoat and the Extempore Debate shall be provided during the Finals itself. Each participant will have three minutes to present his/her point of view. A warning bell will ring after two and half minutes. Exceeding the time limit will be liable for negative marks. The Inter School Debate Winners Trophy will be awarded to the Best Team. The Runner's - up Trophy will be awarded to the second best team.

Debate entry fee Rs. 1,000/- per team of two (both school and colleges).

Coin flip:
Debaters flip a coin. The winner may choose either side (pro or con) or the speaking order (start or end the debate). If the team that wins the coin toss picks the side, the other team picks the speaking order and vice versa.
Time limits:
-1st speaker - for the motion (3 minutes) -2nd speaker - against the motion (3 minutes) -1st rebuttal (2 minutes) -2nd rebuttal (2 minutes) -1st speaker - summing up 2 minutes) -2nd speaker - summing up (2 minutes) -grand crossfire 2 minutes.
The pro- motion speaker should work to convince the judge that the topic should be adopted, and the speaker against the motion should work to convince the judge that it should not be adopted. Hence, the negative could go first if the toss of the coin and selection goes that way.
Introductory speeches:
The speakers should come well prepared to enlist the reasons, rise their arguments and submit their claims persuasively for substantiating or rebuking the topic. Delivery should be spontaneous and preferably conversational. The second speaker, in addition to prepared material, may respond to the most important arguments made by the first speaker.
Crossfire:
Both debaters hold the floor, but the first question must be asked to the speaker who just spoke. After that question, either debater may question, and or answer, at will.
The first crossfire should be used to clarify arguments and identify where clash exists. The second crossfire should advance the debate by finding areas of agreement and attacking arguments with which the debater does not agree.
Summing up:
Each team should consolidate and collate their arguments in its favor and against the topic. Facts and views must be carefully graded and providing adequate evidence is essential. Participants are responsible for the santity of facts and figures submitted by them. Speeches which conveniently ignore the facts with prejudices are discouraged. New arguments can\92t be reiterated and they do not appear in the summary except those mentioned earlier.
Grand Crossfire:
The first question is asked by the team that had the first summary to the team who had the last summary. After that, any debater may question or answer. The judge does not ask or answer questions during crossfire. Contestants should be polite but firm. They should keep questions and answers brief and the speaking style conversational. A debater should not interrupt or talk over their opponent. A debater should not interrupt his/her partner. The affirmative is advocating the change that is in the resolution. The negative is against the change and is upholding the status quo. Each side has an equal amount of time in the debate.
Constructive speeches usually contain the following:
definitions, value, criteria, contentions (main points) and sometimes observations.
