The first 5G smart phones will be available by 2020, and our lives are going to transform. Wireless phone technology technically started with 1G, and in the early 1990s, and it expanded to 2G when companies first started enabling people to send text messages between two cellular devices.
Eventually people moved to 3G. Through which they can browse internet, download videos and make phone calls. 4G again has better speed for making calls, browsing internet and downloading and uploading large video files without any issues.
It is 5G’s Turn!
5G can download a full HD movie in seconds. 5G will increase download speeds up to 10 gigabits per second. It will also reduce load times and gives the capacity it needs to power thousands of connected devices.
5G is a wireless connection similar to 3G and 4G. 5G is built specifically to keep up with the rapid increase of devices that need a mobile internet connection. It’s not just connecting just your phone and computer. It can be connected to Home appliances, door locks, security cameras, cars, wearables, dog collars, and so many other inert devices.
A study reveals “20.8 billion devices will be connected to the Internet by 2020”. At present 6.4 billion devices are connected to the internet. With the 5G, there are many more devices to connect to the internet.
On November 29, 2017, Verizon announced that, “It has begun limited trials of 5G in Texas, Oregon, and New Jersey”. AT&T also announced that it will begin testing 5G technology in its own labs before starting fixed trials.
Although both Verizon and AT&T, the United Nation’s two biggest internet service providers, are already testing 5G, it will not be available soon. Most experts predict that 5G won’t be widely available until 2020.
Every industry and house hold will be impacted by 5G. We can talk to any connected device. 5G will move massive amounts of data between people, cameras, robots and the cloud. By the use of 5G and AI we can expect driverless cars, smart cities, patient centric customized healthcare including remote monitoring diagnostics and even surgery.
