IGNITING MINDS "HARA HAI TOH BHARA HAI" A Green India challenge ,of planting 3 trees in the next 10 days and nurturing them for the next 3 years was passed on by  Shri. Jogu Ramanna Garu , Honourable Minister  For Forest and Environment  to the following dignitaries:

Why do we need to plant trees?

A study has revealed that a person on an average consumes 284.7 kgs of Oxygen per year.

We breathe 7-8 lts of air per minute.

That means 11000 lts of per day (Approx).
Oxygen in the inhaled air is: 20%
Oxygen in the exhaled air is: 15%
We use only 5% of Oxygen in every inhalation.
That means we use 550 lts of Oxygen per day.
550 lts of Oxygen = 785.95 gms or 0.78 kgs.
We use 0.78 Kgs of Oxygen per day.
That means 284.70 Kgs per year, say 285 lts.1 Kg of Oxygen is Rs 1300/-.285 Kgs of Oxygen cost is Rs 3,70,500/-.
We use Rs 3.70 lacks of Oxygen in a year freely given by nature.
One average tree can give 100 kgs of Oxygen per year.
We need to plant at least 3 trees in our life time to compensate our usage of Oxygen from mother earth.

Forest Cover Loss:
Forest cover 10000 years back was 6 billion hectares, (60,000 lahks hectares) that is 45% of earth.
At present forest cover is 4 billion hectares, (40,0000 lakhs hectares) that is 31% of our earth.
Worldwide we are cutting forest of 200 sq. Kms per day.

Past ten years average forest loss is 5.2 million hectares per year.

Hara hai Toh Bhara Hai is a fun way of reversing the damage caused by deforestation.
