Kalam conceptualized to see India as a fully prestigious nation by 2020. A New Vision for the New Millennium. He visualized that India should attain the status of the developed nation of the world by 2020. Kalam centralized few corners where there is a need for the upliftment in the standard of living of the common people who are below the poverty line. According to Kalam’s research, there are few important areas for development like education, health, agriculture, security etc.
Kalam said that only through technology it is possible to bring a change in the nation. Only technology is not sufficient to bring change in the nation, it is the manpower to be added and supported by the technology to see a new changed nation. Without manpower, only with the help of technology, it is not possible to produce goods and services. So technology helps us to develop the human activities in a more sophisticated way at an affordable price. So technology is not only to educate the upper-class people it should be helpful even to the poor people.
Kalam supports his theory of exploitation of technology with a simple statement like without latest technology our natural resources are of no value. In his statement, he expresses that Japan progressed highly with the help of introducing technology in the agricultural field whereas Africa failed because of lack of fundamental technology.
Why do we need the vision to transform India?
Kalam stressed two important factors to achieve the vision to transform India by 2020. What Kalam opined is that to achieve the vision something across the ordinary has to be done. He sorted all the problems and suggested remedies to overcome those problems.
To handle the burning issues like agriculture, basic necessities like food, health, and hygiene are to be developed in the first stage of our program.
Kalam said that with the self-reliance, the common man can boost their self-confidence and ultimately our technology becomes high grade thereby can increase the quality of goods and services.
Kalam explains that the development of science and technology has to reach the pin corner of the country to make our India a fully developed nation.
