There once lived an old merchant who worked all his life to earn enough money to keep himself and his family happy for the rest of the days they would live. After having earned enough wealth and money and once he was satisfied with his earnings, he decided to return back to his home where his wife and children had been living. While he went to the place where he had kept his stallion, the men around him pointed out to the fact that a small shoe nail had fallen off from the stallion while it had been in use all the while. They suggested and advised him to wait until they arranged for a carpenter and the problem was fixed and to continue his further journey only after the problem was completely rectified. Ignorantly and over confidently, he denied the suggestion and said he was lacking time and just a little shoe nail would not make much of a difference in his journey ahead.. After having said this, he started rolling his stallion and departed towards his destination i.e. his house and towards his family.. Over time due to the heavy wear and tear, another nail fell off and still the merchant ignored his limping stallion. Soon the situation got worse and the merchant started finding it really difficult to travel any further, Still, he managed to somehow carry it by manually pushing it, though at a speed much slower. As time passed by, the sun went down and now it was dark and musky. The speed of the stallion was further diminished and the merchant was getting really late. He was left with no option other than getting down himself and driving the stallion. Meanwhile, a gang of robbers and criminals picked this up as a really good opportunity and appeared from within the woods and started eyeing his cash. Having had the responsibility of holding the stallion, he couldn't throw it away to protect his cash. A feeling of helplessness and regret simultaneously dawned upon him. In spite of a little defense, he was finally robbed off all the cash that he was carrying and left with nothing to go home with. His ignorance had made him pay for his actions heavily. Had he rectified his mistake long time ago, he would have happily gone back home with enough cash to keep his family secured. The moral of the story says that a stitch in time saves nine. Anything that is to be done in the moment should never be delayed to later, else it could make us feel regrettable about not having done anything before. Delay in the implementation of a single stitch can bring us to a situation where we may have to put up with nine stitches instead.
