Akun Sabharwal
An avid sprinter, a cyclist who has a passion to work for the society is Akun Sabharwal who is well known for his courageous actions and challenging nature. He worked in Assam regions of Sadiya and Charaido where these regions were obsessed by the extremists, is a clear epitome of his loyalty towards his profession. His initial posting was in Ananthpur, Rayalaseema which was popularly known for factional feuds is an instance of his perseverance towards his duty. In his tenure, nearly 36 Maoist cadres were counter-attacked and 135 others were surrendered. Because of his determination and excellent performance he was elected as the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
If we observe keenly about his career, it is filled with challenges. After he was elected as DCP he dealt with the problems related to drugs, robberies and traffic management. He started a drug control campaign “No Bill, No Pill’ to check issuing of drugs without a prescription.
Achievements
He cycled from India Gate to Gateway of India and covered an area of 1,475 km just in six days to show his gratitude towards his police and paramilitary personnel who have lost their limbs in their duty.
Akun Sabharwal cautions us to prioritize our passion for work. He says that it is not possible to schedule an equal number of hours for both passion and work.
