Chacha Nehru

The first Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru is also known as ‘Chacha Nehru’ and as he was the admirer of children, his birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day. He was an active member of the Congress Party and led the freedom movement. Between 1947 to 1964 he framed the domestic and international policies during his term as Prime Minister. In the year 1951 under the supervision of Nehru, our country launched its First Five Year Plan. He is the main architect to drive the nation towards peace.

Chacha Nehru was born on 14th November 1889, in a Brahmin family. He obtained his degree in natural sciences from Cambridge University in England. After two years he was certified as a barrister. All his ideas were related to liberalism, socialism, and nationalism.

On 15th August 1947, free India was taken its shape under the supervision of Nehru. Nehru was nominated as first Prime Minister and he delivered his iconic speech “Tryst with Destiny” from the Lal Quila. He dedicated his works to develop the country and struggled to assure democracy and equality to all citizens of India. All his writings, thoughts and speeches are related to the national development and national peace. A dove in his hands was a symbol for his efforts and for world peace.

Nehru says that “The fundamental rule of human life, that if our approach is good, the response is good.”
