Clothes Box Foundation (CBF), a not-for-profit organisation was launched in Gurugram in February 2014 by Naman Ahluwalia and Sajan Abrol with a Vision: 'Clean clothes for all'.
Clothes Box Foundation's mission is to clothe as many less-fortunate individuals affected as possible, by the lack of proper clothing by providing them clean and hygienic clothes, thus help reduce the number of related deaths and illnesses. Reusing clothes also reduces the waste generated by either production of clothes or when they are dumped in landfills which in turn conserves the environment.
We use social media (www.facebook.com/clothesboxfoundation/) extensively to connect the donor to the beneficiary which sets us apart from other non-profits.
CBF solves the problem of transparency with joyful simplicity by letting donors actually see the beneficiaries via Facebook photographs, which gives confidence to the donors to come forward and support the cause.
With transparency and accountability our highest priority for the donors, we added another aspect to improve the experience for our donors - 'convenience'. We provide doorstep pickup of clothes across 12000+ pin codes in India, effectively a donor can send us clothes from any corner of the country.
For the beneficiaries, dignity and quality is our highest priority. We maintain quality by performing rigorous quality checks before a single piece of cloth is handed out. To ensure the dignity of the beneficiary, each cloth is dry-cleaned before it is handed out.
Today, CBF is a 25 member strong team of volunteers and interns from different age groups/professions/locations.
CBF is the preferred partner of many top-notch corporates and organisations like The Oberoi Hotels, Eicher Limited, Marriott Hotels, Dr. Lal Path Labs and more. CBF has also partnered with the Indian Army to reach out to individuals in a remote location in Kashmir and has provided more than 50,000 clothes to more than 12,500 families.
The motivation behind starting CBF:
Provide one of the basic necessities a human being requires to survive - clean clothes.
Reduce weather-related illnesses and deaths.
Conserve the environment by reusing clothes rather than dumping them in landfills.
Improve donor - NGO trust by connecting the donor to the beneficiary via social media which no one did then.
Our long-term vision is to provide clean clothing to every less-fortunate individual in India which is further divided into short-term goals:
