The culturally rich and naturally beautiful state of Kerala lies in the south western part of the peninsular and is bounded by the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka etc. The phrase "Gods own country" was adopted by the tourism department of the state to promote it as a major tourist destinations among all the states.

 

  Having risen to popularity due to the rich cultural heritage and the undisturbed natural beauty, this state is a favorite destination among Indian as well as international tourist due to its pristine beaches (Kovalam,  Varkala etc), its backwaters(Allepey) and its hill stations(Munnar, Wayanad). Historically, Vasco Da Gama the Portuguese explorer first found a sea route to India and landed in Calicut (Kozhikode) and ever since then this state has never failed to draw the attention of exporters due to its large production of spices, tea, the locally recognized cloth Calico etc. The Spas and Massages using Ayurvedic remedies are renowned all over the world and has drawn a major share of the international tourists. Another not to be ignored aspect is the lip-smacking cuisine which mainly includes rice as the staple diet and other add-ons like fish and sea food cooked in coconut gravy.

 

   Along with all the above mentioned attractions Kerala has also been topping the list of developed states due to its socio-economic and political stability. The people of Kerala are known to be extremely tolerant about the diverse religions ranging from Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Jew-ism etc that have been adopted by its occupants and literally no communal riots. Also it is the only state that has been able to achieve 100% literacy until today. The city of Kochi Fort is so culturally rich that it holds string to its past of Portuguese, Dutch as well as British colonial era. Apart from this, it is regarded as the cleanest state and its people are said to have the highest life expectancy among all other states. It has the best sex ratio, lowest population growth rate, lowest infant mortality rate, and known to have minimum number of girls dropping out from school at an early age and is believed to have highest number of festivals celebrated in it. It was the first state to accept and implement the land reform bills as well as the education reform bills. which has played a major role, in this level of development that the state has reached. Other major productions are tea, rubber, teak wood, coir, coconuts. 

 

   The major festivals include Onam and Vishu which are celebrated by people from every religion in the state. The richest temple/ worship place in the world, the Padmanabhaswamy temple is located right in the heart of the state. On the whole it is just the perfect blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage; best quality of products manufactured here, one of the most appreciable governance and highly co-operative and tolerant people. So, don’t ever miss a chance to visit this place and relax yourself.
