Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s (GHMC) announced of improved sanitation and the influence of different Swachh Hyderabad initiatives will be put to test as the Swachh Sarvekshan 2018 survey commenced in the city.
What is the objective of Swachh Sarvekshan?
- Encourage large number of citizen participation and create awareness amongst all sections of society.
- Working together towards making towns and cities a better place to live in.
- Foster a spirit of healthy competition among towns and cities to improve their service delivery to citizens, towards creating cleaner cities.
- Intensive interactions with ULBs to familiarize them with the survey methodology, survey process and output indicators
Highlights of Swachh Sarvekshan 2018
- Survey to be conducted in 4,041 cities.
- 500 cities with one lakh and plus population, State capitals and UTs to get all India ranking.
- 3,541 cities with below one lakh population to have State and zonal ranking.
- Last year, among the 434 cities and State capitals with one lakh population, Indore was declared cleanest city.
- There will be negative marks for any lapses
In addition to this, they will make an attempt to get feedback from citizens. This time, citizens’ feedback is being given a lot of weightage in terms of marks. Civic officials have been appealing to citizens to give missed call to 1969, following which they will get a call and have to answer the six questions.
