How wireless networks work?
The Computers which are connected without any cable of any kind is called a wireless network. They use radio waves to connect devices such as laptops to the internet. When these laptops are connected to Wi-Fi, then the connection is a wireless network. As these wireless networks work without cable it is easy, cheap and comfortable to use. Some of the examples of these wireless networks include cell phone networks, Wi-Fi local network etc.
Today’s sophisticated cell phones are designed in such a way as they act like a personal computer which is very easy to handle. These wireless devices have a powerful circuit board with microprocessors inside when connected to the wireless network it allows you to make phone calls, access the internet and so on. Wireless network transmits your call through the landline network to your required person. The lightweight battery supply power to your phone for few days.
The areas are divided into cells. These cells cover certain cities up to 250 sq miles. The more traffic to the network needs more capacity to provide service.
Some of the types in Wireless Network are Peer-to-peer (P2P), LAN
P2P- Network has a facility to connect from one laptop to another. The computer can share files and can be attached to a printer to take printouts of necessary documents. With the use of NIC (Network Interface Card), these are connected wirelessly.
LAN – In this type two wireless devices are connected to the access point infrastructure wireless LAN through a wired network. The technologies used in this are Bluetooth and Lasers. These LAN products are of unlicensed radio bands and available in all over the world.
The speed and range of the wireless network hardware depend on the standard and technology it uses. Some of the wireless standards are Bluetooth, IrDA, HomeRF, WiMax, IEEE 802.11.
To set up a wireless network we need Antennas, Wireless Station and Server, wireless adapter, Necessary Software, Wireless bridges and power line bridges and Medium.
There are two points the Access Point and the Extension Point.
The Access Point acts as a hub and connects the wireless with the wired. These Access Points are two types Hardware access points and Software access points. The device which connects wirelessly with wired is Hardware access point whereas the computer which has wireless network interface card is a Software access point.
The Extension Points are used in the areas where the single access point unable to cover.
The common applications for the wireless are – WLAN, WWAN, WMAN, WPAN and so on.
The fastest and the most powerful network plays an important role in our daily life and manages our professional life in an amazing way.
