Date of Publish - Sunday, 2nd September 2018

Have you ever thought that forest could be built? Yes, this man named Jadav Payeng from Assam did that. That forest is named as “The MOLAI forest” which is the middle name of Jadav Molai Payeng.

Jadav Payeng was born in 1963.He has seen many hundreds of snakes died due to the heat of the land and started planting trees from 1979 and turned the place slowly by slowly into a forest. He first planted around 20 bamboo trees and then slowly made that to a large number of trees that is to a forest that now a different type of animals like rabbits, Bengal tiger and monkey's, etc. He got to know that many animals like 200 elephants come to stay there in the woods for six months and give birth to calves.

Molai forest is a place on Majuli Island which is surrounded by the Brahmaputra River. The Majuli Island is near to Kokilamukh, Jorhat district, Assam, India. At present, the forest is of 1360 acres, and it is by the side of river Brahmaputra.

Jadav was one of the workers came on a project to the place for five years and stayed their continuing planting and turning the land to sort of forest.

The place got identified by the government officials around 2008 when they went on a search for 115 elephants which ruined nearby village. The government officials were surprised by seeing such a vast area turned into the forest and from then that place was got into the limelight.

Jadav Payeng has three children who now help him in his work. He always says that he never thought that his planting could turn the land into such a big and beautiful forest.

He is the third one with 13 siblings in his family, and he is now concentrating on extending the forest in other places to.

So what do you think, is Molai an educated person or a person who know environment sciences and all? No, he is just an ordinary village man who did this great job only by coming forward and his step to make that place friendly for animals, and even humans became so successful that he now thinks to extend the forest continuing planting.

I think it is the job of every citizen that we need to come out at least after seeing people like Jadav Payeng.

It's time that every citizen should come out and work at least for sometime towards our country and do something which is good for our future generations.

Jadav Payeng was awarded Padma Shri in 2015, and now he is called as Padma Shri Jadav Payeng.

Not for awards and not for promotion but for our future generations, Let’s come out of the luxuries at least for some time and let’s put the electronic gadgets like phones and laptops etc aside for some time and step forward for the future of our country “INDIA” and make it green India, so that our future generations can see that as it looks now.

This can be started by stepping forward doing small things like planting in surroundings, cleaning up the waste and dumping in a right way and even by using water in a right way. So, let’s do this to preserve our city, our country, our world and our planet!!
