New Year, New Choices
Resolutions are a common part of everyone’s new year. At least for the first two weeks of January, that is. We all hate to admit it, but there are next to no resolutions that we can keep throughout the whole year.
All the stuff about being a new person and experimenting with new things just doesn't pan out.
So this year, why don't we try another approach? Instead of trying to be a new you, be the old you, the you you've always been, to perfection. After all, being someone who we already are, and owning it with pride and contentment, is a much better option than trying to be a whole other person.
Do everything in the exact same way that you’ve been doing it all these years but with paramount finesse.
Go all out, don't hold yourself back, because you know what? The truer you are never going to change. All you can do is try and make yourself a better person, while still having a healthy connection with your core self.
"Changing" ourselves is not the piece of cake that we think it to be. There is a reason new year resolutions are never successful. They're usually about how we are weak in one aspect of life and want to change it completely. What we usually fail to understand is that that part of us was never meant to change. Instead of banishing that part of ourselves, we should embrace it first, and hold onto that, try to turn into a talent or an advantage. Has human evolution taught us nothing? Humans adapt to their surroundings and survive. They don’t magically she’s their skin and become tough skinned beasts in one day, all because they couldn’t handle the heat or cold. That’s what we’re supposed to do too! Nature is always trying to teach us some invaluable lesson or the other. All we need to do is keep our eyes and ears open at all times and implement those lessons in our life.
Satisfied with who you are and taking it to the next level, striving for perfection is oddly rewarding. It does not matter what we do or how much we do, as long as we can look at ourselves in the mirror and say “I did my best, my absolute best and nothing less.” Actually, this should be a daily habit of ours, right before going to bed. If we can say this to ourselves with absolute honesty each day, we will have a good nights sleep, and wake up even more encouraged and energised the next day, this paving the perfect path towards a better life.
A new year is, no doubt, a new beginning and is full of opportunities that seem limitless in their possibilities. So starting it off the right way will guarantee that the whole year will be great, no matter what obstacles are thrown along the way.
That being said, I hope you all have an amazing year ahead, full of joy and amazing surprises!
