Education at its best

A good education is the one that provides all the students with the capacities they require to become economically productive, develop sustainable livelihoods, and contribute to societies in various ways and enhance individual well being for all. The quality of the education should be given great importance because education gives us knowledge of the world around us and helps us make it a better place by giving us a different perspective of looking at life.The economists defined education as human capital, in terms of average years of schooling and average test scores. It is important to emphasize the “quality” of human capital.While the number of years of schooling is significant, so is the intellectual ability (measured by test scores) gained from those years. But they miss a crucial point of “good quality of education” plays an important role. Even if students spend over twelve years in a school system, they may not gain significant improvements in productivity if the quality of their education was poor.

Importance of Education

Throughout history, we have seen that education has been key in many sustainable growths. With quality education, the cycle of poverty can be broken along with a reduction in inequalities and enhancement of gender equality.This, in turn, enhances the quality of life for many along with empowering them.Education is the crux of progress to more peaceful societies by increasing tolerance.

Measures to increase access to Education

• The government plays a vital role in ensuring that residents receive education by prioritizing education in policy as well as practice.

• Free primary education can enhance the percentage of children attending school from the vulnerable and marginalized groups.

• The importance of education can be highlighted by NGOs who partner with other groups to spread awareness among local communities. Investment of resources by the private sector can also help boost development of educational tools and facilities.
