Rituraj Phukan, also the Chief Operating Officer of Walk For Water and Associate Editor for Igniting Minds, challenged all members of Green Guard Nature Organization to plant 3 saplings in the next ten days and nominate 3 of their friends through social media to take up the challenge.He said that the ancient Hindi saying 'Jungle Nadi Ki Ma Hai' which translates to 'Forest is mother to the river' is very relevant in the context of the water crisis in India. "Decades of rampant deforestation has resulted in the unprecedented water scarcity and now is the time to make amends. Let us all plant trees for a water secure future."

He also added that "Water is the local issue of global climate change, for people  and for biodiversity," and that "Human civilization has to find a way to restore the forest cover to the historical extents wherever possible, to avert catastrophic climate change."
