'shaan Suhas Kumar Miss Earth 2017 Hails From Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh' Is More Than A Media Student.

Shaan is Miss Earth India 2017 and represented the country in Manila, Philippines in October 2017 in the world's third biggest and environmentally inclined beauty pageant - Miss Earth, where she was adjudged to be among the top 16 in environmental awareness and intelligence among 85 representatives from different countries.

She is also the winner of Top Model India 2016 and represented the country in Top Model Worldwide in London, UK and was shortlisted to walk for the London Fashion Week Spring Summar 18 collection in September 2017.

Shaan was selected from all of south asia as one of 15 climate journalists to report for the 5th Asia Pacific Climate Change adaptation Forum in SriLanka by Climate Tracker, an international youth journalism organization. Furthermore, she mentored budding climate journalists from South Asia in Bangladesh in 2017.

Shaan is also a Climate Reality Leader trained in Houston Texas by Nobel Peace Prize winner and former Vice President of United States Mr. Al Gore and his team at the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training in 2016.

In 2012, Shaan was selected to be a part of the prestigious Teach For India Fellowship where she taught in the slums of Mumbai and Pune as a full time Teacher, Mentor and Communications Professional for 4 years.

She was a delegate speaker at the Asia Pacific Future Leaders Conference in Malaysia in December 2017, and a delegate with maximum scholarship to the Asia Pacific Youth Exchange program on sustainable development where she presented her teams ideas to youth and a jury at the United Nations ESCAP, Thailand, on Quality Education. She was recently selected to be a facilitator at the Jagriti Yatra and completed a 8000km train journey across India on full scholarship where her team developed social entrepreneurship ideas on Energy and Climate for rural areas with her guidance.

Shaan has previously volunteered, collaborated and interned for organizations like Sanctuary Asia Wildlife Magazine, Environmental Planning and Coordination Organization MP, Navjyoti India Foundation and has also served as an ambassador for World Wide Fund For Nature MP and C state office for Earth Hour 2016 and 2017.

By degree Shaan is a film-maker and a graduate in Media Studies from Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication, India's premiere undergraduate institution for Media Studies. Last year she was also accepted to the prestigious Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, New York, an Ivy League institution for her Masters.

Shaan Suhas Kumar is also part of the Walk For Water campaign for universal safe water access and is the State Campaign Head for Madhya Pradesh.

As the reigning Miss Earth India, she is eager to contribute further to the Walk For Water campaign and in any role which would do justice to her vast experiences in environmental and social causes.
