Youth - A Backbone Of The Country
It is the youth of the nation which defines any country. Youth is the most important stage in anybody’s life. It is that stage which defines the future of any person and hence the future and prosperity of the nation. It would be not wrong to say that youth is the powerhouse and storehouse of the infinite energy and the pride of a nation.
It is really very important to channelize this infinite energy of our youth in the right direction because the same energy gets diverted towards the wrong direction. But juvenile delinquency is one of the major challenges faced by youth today. Juvenile delinquency refers to the antisocial or criminal activity of the child (below 16 years of age for boys and 18 years for girls) which violates the law. It is a topic of great importance as this is the gateway to adult crime.
The major causes which have been observed in recent years are as follows:
Firstly the nuclear family concept and the working parents leave the child isolated and hence they get involved in wrongful acts.
Secondly the substance abuse factors such as the involvement of the youth in the addiction of the drugs. They are likely to get involved in the destructive illegal and harmful activities due to excess consumption of drugs and alcohol.
Thirdly the mental state of the youth is also likely to play an important role such as the impulsive nature, uncontrolled aggression, bad company.
In recent years the youth has got a lot of attention from the government and the parents but their problems are also rising day by day. Juvenile delinquency should be dealt at the early stage. It is really important to solve these problems soon otherwise the future of the children will be deeply affected. Every society should devote their time to ensure that children get proper attention and care
Rightly said by Mahatma Gandhi “if every saint has a past then every criminal has a future”.
